By the way, I'm so happy you're giving this Shukan AKB project a try! I wrote the two huge messages in the last post (AKBingo ep 290), with a few examples of great episodes. While I was writing that, you posted this, so it's great news for me and other AKB fans!

don't want to sound stupid, but exactly how do you watch this? i've never done this before, i usually just watch it on dailymotion or youtube
ReplyDeleteThe file is a subtitle file (.ass). You need to download the torrent, then open the file and drag and drop the .ass file to the media player you're using. To get this and all other episodes, if they're not uploaded to dailymotion etc, go to hello-online.org, register there and use their tracker to find the episodes. In the search box it's easiest to write the episode release date, ex. 090821 from this episode.
DeleteEven though you did this as a collab with another person, I'm rather disappointed with the translation level. Do you guys not have a QC or something to go thru the script? You mentioned yourself you're not a native english speaker so that's fine, if you've translated it then the general message is there. But if you had a QC to check thru the script they could re-arrange words/edit the script so that it would actually not only make sense, but also not have typos and such.
ReplyDeleteI can still understand what's going on with the episodes with these subs so I'm grateful as it is, but it's no lie it would be more enjoyable if someone would QC them. Hell, I wouldn't mind doing it for you if you needed someone like that.

DeleteYou shouldn't take everything so seriously. I even said I am grateful and it's true. The subs are free, yes, which is why we're grateful. But even when it's free, wouldn't you want to deliver a quality product instead of this?
DeleteI'm only asking why/how you don't have a quality-checker go through the subs, no need to be offended because that was not my intention. It is apparent you don't really care about the level of the subs and that's your right. I just wanted to help, but to do so I would have to know why the subs are as they are in the first place.
So, once more, why don't you have a QC? Maybe you could have someone QC it that isn't '' serious '' like me? Or are everyone serious that care about the quality of the script?

Biggest problem is visibility/discoverability though. Not sure why UKN48 only uploads as private videos for example.
So creating a hardsub ("outsourcing") won't help much unless people can find it easily.
Dailymotion user Gozua ( http://www.dailymotion.com/Gozua ) has the most easily accessible set of subbed AKB shows - I wish the newly subbed stuff would also be listed in his/her playlists... There's also a side-Account ( http://www.dailymotion.com/Gozua-2 ) where people can find unsubbed ones to fill the gaps in the lists…
So bottom line: Yes, please sub older stuff, it is very much appreciated. But I wish it wouldn't be hidden in facebook pages or behind registered-user-only trackers only.
Oh: and don't think the number of comments in the blog matter that much - people find out about the stuff much later than you did initially release/sub it :-)
